About South Shields Branch

South Shields is well known for its beautiful stretch of coastline, situated at the end of the 'Great North Run'

South Shields Branch was originally formed as part of the former South Shields Borough Police which amalgamated in 1968 with River Tyne and Durham Constabulary then in 1974 into Northumbria Police.

The Branch is one of five Northumbria Police branches. South Shields covers the areas known as South Tynesideincorporating East/West Boldon,  Jarrow, Hebburn, Whitburn and Cleadon.

Our members are formed from colleagues having resided and served these areas.

Our objectives are to remain closely linked to all Northumbria Branches.

The branch hold quarterly meetings held at;- The Old Ship, Sunderland Road, Harton, South Shields.

On the last Thursday of February, (this includes the AGM), May, August and November. All commence at 7.30pm in the upstairs lounge.

The venue has ample parking and is on a main regular bus route.
