The Chichester Branch of NARPO was formed in 1947 and has a current total membership of 317 including 48 additional members from other Branches and 39 widow members. we cover the area of West Sussex from Bognor Regis and parts of the Littlehampton post code, westwards to the Hampshire border and north of the South Downs to include Petworth, Midhurst and Pulborough. The membership of the branch is drawn mainly from retired officers who served in Sussex, but we are pleased to have a strong additional membership comprising retired officers from numerous other forces who have moved to our area. We have a strong Metropolitan Police membership who meet for a bi-monthly lunch club, at which fellow members are made welcome.
The Branch circulates four newsletters each year to include news of meetings and social events. We gather for an AGM in April each year and the Branch enjoys an active and varied social calendar which include an autumn social and theatre visits. A short holiday is usually organised in the autumn and recent visits have taken place to Normandy and ireland as well as a Rhine River Cruise to the Xmas markets. Urgent news such as bereavement is passed by email to over half the membership who have that facility. The branch enjoys close and excellent support from its sister branches in Sussex and quarterly meetings are held with all other Sussex secretaries and Chairmen.
We are a friendly and caring branch and extend a warm welcome to all retired officers whether from Sussex, or to those who move to this beautiful part of the country from other forces.
