POLICE STAFF INVESTIGATORS
Crime Support
£26,808 - £28,368Protecting the public is recognised as our key responsibility and you will have the opportunity to contribute to critical and developing areas of the Force.
As a Police Staff Investigator within the Crime Support Unit, you will investigate serious and complex crimes in compliance with ‘designated powers’ and will actively identify and exploit investigative and intelligence opportunities in order to detect crime. You will be responsible for securing and preserving evidence through thorough investigation and will prepare and submit evidential files for the Crown Prosecution Service. In addition, you will attend court hearings and give evidence regarding investigations in which they have been involved, and they would be required to participate and contribute to multi-agency meetings to develop co-ordinated investigations.
This is a demanding role that will require you to demonstrate the following skills and abilities:
Satisfactorily completed the initial CID program or have equivalent evidenced investigative qualifications
Substantial experience of working in a complex criminal investigations environment, including conducting interviews and case building
A good working knowledge of the police environment
A clear knowledge and understanding of the authorised designated powers
Proven investigative ability and ability to analyse problems and complex information
High degree of resilience and ability to work under pressure.
High level of interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to negotiate and influence at all levels

The Police Service of Northern Ireland recently set-up a new investigation team named The
Historic Enquiries Team. Their sole purpose is to re-examine all deaths attributable to the
security situation between 1969 and 1998. This was one of the most difficult periods of
Northern Ireland’s history.
To assist with this enormous and complex task, the Historic Enquiries Team (HET) will
require further experienced SIO’s to assist with the process for the foreseeable future.
Those wishing to apply will need to demonstrate a proven track record in conducting and
managing homicide and other serious crime investigations in the primary role of an SIO.
The work for these roles will be based near Lisburn, County Antrim and will be part of a large
team, many of whom are former detectives from forces across the United Kingdom.

The successful candidate must have considerable experience in this field. Ex or retired Police officer required.
HOLMES II Typist
The successful candidate must have a high level of proof reading ability and good quality English, and fully trained as a HOLMES II Typist.
HOLMES II Indexer.
The successful candidate must be a certified HOLMES II Indexer, highly skilled and experienced in creating and linking information within the HOLMES system.
HOLMES Office Manager
Experience in this role is essential.
All HOLMES II applicants should have extensive HOLMES II experience and be HOLMES trained in either a murder or major crime, within the past 3 years.
